Homecoming Flow in West Jakarta-Merak Still Conducive and Smooth

Vehicle flow from Jakarta heading to Merak is quite smooth, compared to last year which was quite dense

Entering 6 days before Eid ul Fitr 1435 Hijri, the homecoming lane in West Jakarta towards Merak is still smooth. According to the information of West Jakarta Resort Police Traffic Unit, there are two lanes from West Jakarta towards Merak. First is through Tomang-Merak Toll Road that usually passed by four-wheeled vehicles and second is artery roads from Jalan Daan-Tangerang-Merak usually passed by two-wheeled vehicles. Thus far, traffic flow on both lanes are still reportedly conducive and smooth. 

"Traffic flow from Jakarta heading to Merak is quite smooth, compared to last year which was quite dense," said Chief of West Jakarta Traffic Unit, AKBP Ipung Purnomo, Tuesday (7/22).

Purnomo assessed that vehicle density commonly happens on 3 days before Eid ul Fitr, as it has entered public leave, either civil servants or private employees.

Besides monitoring homecoming flow, he continued, his side also set up 8 posts for checking vehicles and resting place for homecomers. As planned, such posts will be set up in some homecoming locations, like shopping malls, terminals, stations, ports and airports.

"We also have set up 8 posts in some places. The homecomers can stop to check their vehicle or take a rest before continuing the trip," he explained.
